S2: The new 3 Skypephone now available in UK
The new 3 Skypephone was introduced in the UK this week and Peter Parkes gives a full run down of the S2’s particulars over on the Skype blog.
I’ve never used a Skypephone but might see if I can get a demo while here in the UK (the S2 is currently only available in the UK). It sounds fairly straight forward as mobile phones go: texts, calls, web browsing and photo capabilities are all part of the list of features. But it does boast “convenient access to Facebook” which I’d particularly like a demo of. I’m able to review comments, post replies and edit overall pages on eBay Ink by accessing the Wordpress admin from my Blackberry - an invaluable feature while traveling.
I’m very interested to see how future mobile devices better integrate social/business networking tools - like Facebook, LinkedIn, Utterz, Twitter, you name it - because I imagine it will become much more prevalent over the next 12 months and will also factor into platform purchase decisions. Up until now, the ease of integration has rested more with the social tools themselves, rather than the creators of the platforms on which they reside.
Cheers,
RBH
